SUCSESS: VOGUE STYLE

In a last minute rush to find a good holiday book after I somehow misplaced the latest Bridget Jones' Diary novel, I came across a very interesting auto-biography 'The Vogue Factor' written by the former Vogue Australia editor Kirstie Clements. As successful business women go, Clements is the perfect example of how determination and motivation can really help you climb the career ladder. In 1985 Cements took on the role of receptionist at Vogue with very limited previous experience. By 1999.. just fourteen years later, Clements was crowned editor, proving that with a little (or rather, lot) of enthusiasm and passion, you really can become top of your game. In this article I'll take a huge chunk of inspiration from Kristie and her winning formula for success so that those of you that haven't got round to reading the book (which you absolutely must!) can get a bite.

A Guide to Social Media Etiquette

I'm at that age now where I have become very conscious about what I put on social media. In my early to mid teens I had just discovered the wonders of myspace and facebook and (as timehop loves to remind me) and put it this way.. I wasn't always as cautious as I am now. Social media is not just a casual social activity, but a reflection of yourself. Don't think for one second that when you apply for a job that they won't check out your social platforms, as to an employer nothing will give them a truer insight to your persona. So to help you all out I have compiled a little Do's and Don'ts article, or a guide to social media etiquette shall we say..

How to get a job at Benefit Cosmetics

benefit, cosmetics, job, interview

One of the best ways to get the job of your dreams is to be well and truly prepared for your interview! Being prepared will not only insure you answer the questions with ease but will also make you feel confident, calm and collected on the day. The most useful things for me when preparing for my job at Benefit cosmetics was reading about other people's experiences. So I thought I'd contribute my interview experience and a little bit about the job for anyone who is thinking of applying or has a interview coming up themselves!

Is the beauty industry corrupting childhood?

This is going to be a bit of a controversial post, especially as I myself as a beauty blogger, may even be contributing to the very topic I am about to complain about. When I was in super drug the other day I was casually browsing the makeup isle when I heard a small voice behind me exclaim 'this is by far my favourite foundation brush - you  have to try it'. I turned around to see a group of girls, no older than 11 or 12 sharing their views on the latest £14 a pop Real Techniques brushes.

Why Madonna's BRIT Awards moment was nothing to laugh about

madonna, brit, awards, fall

Okay. So prosecco just happened and only truth happens when prosseco happens so bare with me, this could get messy. I just watched the Brit awards with my mother, something we genuinely do together every year. Even if you didn't already know that the Brits were happening, I'm sure you will know that Madonna fell. It was dramatic. I'm not sure my heart has ever stopped beating for around 15 consecutive seconds before but it totally just did.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Vs. Healthy Mix Serum Review

I recently had a bit of a makeup dilemma, I had completely run out of fair toned foundations! Rummaging through my makeup bags all I could find were colours that match me when I'm tanned. I decided I wanted to try something new and had heard a lot of good things about the Bourgois Healthy Mix foundation! Faced with the choice between the original foundation and the more lightweight serum, along with the prospect of 'buy one get one half price' I grabbed both! Here is a little review of my thoughts..

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Review

philip kingsley elasticizer review

On any ordinary occasion, I wouldn't usually spend £15 on a 75ml tube of hair product, but the harsh winter weather and constant need to use heat on my hair to make it look acceptable have taken their toll. When I purchased the Phillip Kingsley Elasticizer, a pre-shampoo treatment for damaged hair, I was searching for a miracle. Did I find it in this beautifully designed product? Keep reading to find out!

Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream Review

benefit total moisture facial cream moisturiser

Everyone's skin types are entirely unique to them. In my case, and I'm sure in the case of many others) my skin gets unbelievably dry in the colder months! I had tried just about every high street moisturizer and nothing had worked - as my skin is also very sensitive I often have problems finding products that don't irritate my skin. After working as a Xmas temp for Benefit and constantly rubbing total moisture onto my hands behind the counter, I decided to buy a pot and actually try it out on my face.. here are the results!
